Business Development Director – Expanding Sales and Client Relationships


As a key member of the global Sales Team, the Business Development Director plays a crucial role in generating new leads, securing new business, and up-selling within existing client accounts. This position requires a combination of independent initiative and collaboration with stakeholders throughout the sales cycle process. Occasional travel may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities effectively.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Company’s business and services.
  • Promote Welocalize’s competitive value and expertise within the localization industry.
  • Conduct research and analysis of industries to identify new business opportunities.
  • Establish and nurture strong client relationships.
  • Utilize the contact database, invoicing system, and project management software effectively.
  • Collaborate with Program Directors, Enterprise Project Managers, and/or Project Managers to create account plans, RFPs, SOWs, and quotes, ensuring smooth administrative handling.
  • Work closely with operations to exceed client expectations.
  • Contribute to a global team effort in defining the value proposition and service offerings for both existing and potential clients.
  • Take responsibility and accountability for designated clients and projects in partnership with the manager.
  • Align internal and external expectations with specific deliverables through collaboration with the manager and global team.
  • Actively participate in weekly department meetings.
  • Address and resolve client concerns promptly.
  • Attend industry conferences to network, gain industry insights, generate new leads, and maintain existing client relationships.
  • Achieve profitable sales that meet territory objectives by surpassing established sales targets.
  • Cultivate strong business relationships with key decision makers.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
  • Utilize various mediums such as phone, email, and follow-up communications to prospect effectively.
  • Demonstrate and educate buyers on the value of the services offered.
  • Obtain and share territory information regarding market intelligence and penetration.
  • Accurately plan and report all sales-related metrics.
  • Generate a qualified pipeline for new business and existing clients.
  • Provide regular, accurate 90-day, 60-day, and 30-day sales forecasts.

Qualifications and Required Skills:

Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent work experience.

Required Skills:

  • Proven Sales Experience in the legal sector, with a focus on e-discovery, litigation, and intellectual property.
  • Demonstrated success in a similar industry or position with a track record of procuring leads independently and managing the entire sales process.
  • Current experience meeting monthly/yearly sales quotas.
  • Familiarity and experience with Salesforce or related CRM platforms.
  • Strong computer skills.
